BERC is pleased to announce a new component of the Commercial Area Revitalization Effort (CARE) Program which will provide a $25,000 forgivable loan to attract the top 3 targeted businesses needed for each CARE Area.
A retail survey was conducted in each CARE Area. The following information was based on retail surveys conducted in each CARE Area. If you are interested, the entire survey is included in our Market Study and Revitalization Plan (1.8 mb PDF).

*1000' priority zone for development is designated between the Central Park Plaza and the Main Street / Fairfield Street intersection. Areas between Main Street and Fillmore Avenue needs to be "greened," the facades need improvements and existing circulation and security problems must be addressed. CARE Funds will not be specifically spent on the Central Park Plaza; HOWEVER, the CPP revitalization is key to the retail future of the Fillmore / Leroy CARE Area. |

While there appeared to be room for growth in most retail categories, the categories that showed the greatest opportunities were grocery stores, general merchandise stores, restaurants and drug stores.
Note: Applications for CARE funding with physical locations in the 1000' priority zone will be given priority consideration.
