The
Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation continues to pursue the
development of small business and sustainable growth along its
neighborhood commercial districts through its economic development
tools and incentive programs.
The City of Buffalo, through its state and federal designation
as a Renewal Community and
its administration of the state Empire
Zone program, is able to facilitate economic development,
with the assistance of its local
and state partners, chiefly the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise,
Erie County Industrial Development Agency and the Empire State
Development Corporation who offer incentive packages to reduce
development costs and operation expenses.
The City of Buffalo’s Commercial
Area Revitalization Effort Program (CARE), was created to
promote economic vitality of the City of Buffalo’s older
neighborhood commercial districts by encouraging and providing
a comprehensive revitalization program. The CARE program offers
storefront façade and security improvement grants as well
as rehabilitation loans for residents interested in making improvements
to real estate. Grants and loans are offered through a partnership
between neighborhood resident, merchants, City Government and
the Buffalo Economic renaissance Corporation (BERC).
