Buffalo, NY - A big investment is being made in one area of the city that's already showing some growth.
News 4's Lisa Flynn has more on what's planned for the Jefferson-Utica neighborhood.
The former East Utica Library will be transformed into a state of art business incubator. It's similar to another incubator across the street that has proven successful.
The state of the art, 1.2 million dollar incubator is designed to spur growth and development of start-up businesses.
The City of Buffalo kicked in 500,000 dollars and Senator Antoine Thompson donated another 100,000 dollars.
The fledgling businesses will have all they need under one roof to foster the growth they need to make it in the business world.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said, "The new incubator will contain eight separate incubator spaces which will offer low rent, state of the art offices for start up businesses or businesses graduating from home-based status to professional office space."
Buffalo Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples (D-Buffalo) said, "People have a specific place to come to get the services they need; one to grow their businesses, two to find a job, three to actually find other opportunities within construction."
Tenants of the Jefferson-Utica Business Services Incubator will receive guidance and technical assistance from the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation which will house a resource center there.
Mayor Byron Brown says this latest venture adds to the 4.3 billion dollars in development projects going on in the city right now.
